Most of Doctor Occult's tales involve the usual paranormal elements, such as vampires and werewolves. But the multi-chapter story featured below was somewhat different. The foe was a memorable one named Koth, whose nature is both alien and supernatural, and would require the help of Doctor Occult's mentor, Zator of the Seven. In order to battle this foe, Doctor Occult eschewed his regular civilian clothing of a suit and tie with a hat and trenchcoat for a Flash Gordon-inspired costume with a definite superhero look to it, which predates Superman's publication by two years. Roy Thomas would later make Koth, Zator, and the Seven a large part of Doctor Occult's origin story in Secret Origins v2 #17 (August 1987).
As far as I'm aware, there are no complete collections of this five-part story online. It took a bit of searching to find the final missing chapters. The main reason for this is because the first chapter of this five-part saga did not appear in More Fun Comics at all, but in The Comics Magazine #1 (also known as Funny Pages #1, cover-dated May 1936), in which Dr. Occult was renamed Dr. Mystic. The last four parts of this story come from More Fun Comics #14 (October, 1936), More Fun Comics #15 (November 1936), More Fun Comics #16 (December 1936), and More Fun Comics #7 (January 1937).
